Copper Fabrication

The world consumption of copper exceeds 18 million tons per year making it one of the most versatile materials available.  Copper is also one of the most used materials for applications no matter what type of industry.  If you need to have a project completed using copper fabrication, our team of personable fabricators here at Pushard Welding can provide you with the quality metal fabrication.

Copper is fairly soft.  It can be cut by common hand tools as well as with standard cutting methods such as:

  • Tube Cutting – when cutting pipe, a fine toothed hacksaw can be used very successfully.
  • Copper Sheet and Plate Cutting – the cutting of copper sheets and plates depends upon the thickness of the copper as well as the amount of cutting that is required for the project.

Most copper tubing can be easily bent.  There are two methods that can be used; by using a bending spring or by a bending machine.  A bending machine is the easiest of the two methods.  This machine is usually used on thinner walls.  The bending machine is fitted with a bending roller and will be sized to match the pipe.

Copper Fabrication Techniques

There are many different fabrication techniques that can be used on copper.  Some of them are:

  • Machining
  • Forming
  • Stamping
  • Joining
  • Polishing
  • Plating

Because copper has an exceptional ability for machining, the standard of machining has become the means by which all other metals are judged.
